11387Bio Information: Hannah Kastigar won Northern's first ever National Championship in swimming on March 9, 2017, taking the 400 yard IM with a school record time of 4:12.99. In addition to her All-American honors in that event, she also finished third in the 200 IM and seventh in the 100 fly from the 2017 NCAA National Championships. Just one day later on March 10, 2017, Kastigar claimed the second National Championship of her career winning the 200 fly with a time of 1:58.36. The time also gave the junior another school record. Following the 2017 NCAA National Championships, Kastigar ranks as the first swimming All-American in school history while earning four total honors in her first national championships. 

She qualified for four events at the 2019 NCAA National Championships in the final season of her career. Kastigar opened the meet with a runner-up finish in the 200 individual medley. Day two brought the third NCAA National Championship of her career, and second in the 400 individual medley. She blew past her competition in the race with a school record time of 4:11.15, beating the runner-up by six seconds. 

Hannah Kastigar is a 5-foot-6, individual medley and fly swimmer out of Aberdeen Central High School and Grand Canyon University. She was a decorated swimmer with the Aberdeen Swim Club in the state of South Dakota as a state champion, state record holder, national qualifier, and Olympic trails qualifier. Kastigar spent two seasons with the Lopes earning numerous individual accomplishments. The Aberdeen native was honored as the WAC freshman of the year in 2014 and added NCAA Division I swimmer of the week honors, WAC swimmer of the week honors, WAC female swimmer of the year, and was a 2-time GCU athlete of the year nominee. She holds Lopes school records in the 400 IM, 200 IM, 200 fly, 200 breast, and 100 breast. She was also a WAC champion in the 200 IM, 200 fly, and 2-time champion in the 400 IM. She is the daughter of Joe and Elyce Kastigar.
