Biography

2008-2009:  Tabbed as a player to watch prior to the 2008-2009 season…started 23 games and played in 27….finished the year averaging 4.7 points, 3.3 rebounds, and 1.1 assists per game…season-high 15 points in win over Bemidji State on 1/16/09…set an NSU school record for three-point shooting percentage in a game by shooting 5-5 from behind the three-point line in that game…8th in the NSIC in three-point shooting percentage by shooting .417 in conference games…

 

2007-08: Kusler saw action in 6 games, with two starts, before red-shirting due to injury. She averaged 7.0 points and 4.3 rebounds per game in the games in which she appeared. Kusler shot 45% from the field and 36.4% from the three point line on the year. She had 15 assists and 4 steals on the year.

2006-07: Kusler played in 16 games during her rookie campaign and made one start ... averaged 1.8 points and 1.2 rebounds per game ... scored a high eight points against Concordia-St. Paul on January 12, 2007.

Pre-NSU: Is a 2006 graduate of Aberdeen Central High School … Was a four-time letterwinner in volleyball, basketball, and track … Named All-Conference her junior and senior years … Made the State All-Tournament team her junior and senior years … All-State athlete … Served as team captain … Was a two-time All-Conference and All-State athlete in volleyball … Made the All-Area team … Named the 2006 SDAA Miss Volleyball … Also ran track, where she made the All-Conference and All-State teams … Was named Female Athlete of the Year at Aberdeen Central.

Personal: Born on April 17, 1988 to parents Julie and Scott Kusler of Aberdeen, SD … has two siblings, Adam and Ali … her father, uncle (Jay), and aunt (Connie) all played basketball at Northern State … her greatest sports moment was beating rival Mitchell in the State semifinals her sophomore year, breaking a 16-game losing streak with them … received several awards, including the Shaun Hansen Award, the Keystone Award in Leadership, and the US Marines’ Distinguished Athlete Award … Special Olympics volunteer … enjoys working and coaching at youth volleyball camps...majoring in sports marketing and administration...
