She is a four-year soccer letterwinner at Osoyoos High School, helping her team finish in second place at the Provincial Championships from 2005 to 2007. She was selected as one of the top 11 players at the BC Provincial Championships. Burns was a member of the Pacific Coast League U21 Championship team and was awarded MVP at the Merritt and Nakusp Invitationals.
