Prep: Jacob Howard is a 6-foot-3, 240-pound defensive lineman out of Sully Buttes High School. He was a 3-year starter and senior team captain for the Chargers. In his senior campaign, Howard tallied 85 tackles including 17 tackles for a loss and seven sacks. He notched two fumble recoveries, with one being returned for a touchdown. Howard is a 2-time YTC All-Conference, 2-time 9B All-State, 2-time Aberdeen American News All-Area, and 2-time Argus Leader Elite45 recipient. He was also named to the academic all-state team in 2017. The Chargers were the 2015 and 2017 South Dakota 9B State Runners-up. He is the son of LaJena and Brad Gruis and Donny and Amy Howard.
