HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Northern State chalked their first of three goals early, with a pass from Jaylee Hofer to Kylie Albert for a goal
  • Throughout the remainder of the first half, the Wolves kept the Dragons on their toes, spending most of the half on their side of the field
  • With around 20 minutes left, MSU Moorhead drew the equalizer, with Sophie Thompson sending a corner kick into the box to Kaci Malo before Malo tapped it to Mary Cox to score
  • This started a big momentum shift for the Dragons, pressuring the Wolves multiple times in their own goal
  • But Northern State was not done yet, with Hofer tallying her second assist of the afternoon on a cross to Ella Johnson, who hit the post on her first shot before gathering the ball and scoring on her second shot of that drive
  • After an MSUM foul, Ella Blake lined up for a free kick in which she put the ball into motion, crossing it to Sarah Helderop before Helderop put the ball in the net for their last goal of the afternoon
  • Albert led the way with four shots on the day, while Helderop led the team in shots on goal with two in the match
  • Aside from the goal in the second half, the Dragons were unable to record another shot on goal, with NSU's defense stepping up, allowing just six shots all afternoon
  • Cox tallied three of MSUM's six shots, while Clara Butler racked up two of her own
  • Emilia Kristensen recorded five saves in the match
