Aberdeen, S.D. - Northern State's Levi Reis (men's track and field) and Aune Boben (softball) are this week's South Dakota Army National Guard Athletes of the Week following their performances last weekend.
Reis won javelin at the Snooze Button Classic in his first meet of the outdoor season. He threw a 64.67m mark; earning him a provisional mark and a personal best. The junior broke the NSU school record in javelin by .43m. The North Dakota native ranks 24th in the nation in the event.
Boben led the Wolves to a 3-3 record over the weekend, tallying five runs on 10 hits (.500 batting average), three RBIs, two home runs, two doubles, nine putouts and seven assists. She chalked four multi-hit games, including back-to-back three-hit games against Minnesota Duluth and Bemidji State. The sophomore tallied two three-putout games while also boasting a perfect fielding percentage in all six starts. The Minnesota native notched two of Northern State's three home runs recorded in its last six games, recording one in each game against Minnesota Duluth. Boben threw the win against Minnesota Duluth, giving up just one run on four hit with 11 strikeouts.
