Aberdeen, S.D. – Northern State University Interim Head Baseball Coach
Brandon Kusler announced today the addition of
Corey Harrell to the Wolves staff. Harrell returns to NSU following a year at Northeast Iowa Community College.
"We are thrilled to add
Corey Harrell back to our coaching staff," exclaimed Kusler. "His experience and familiarity with our program will help our team tremendously. Corey's knowledge of the game and his ability to recruit and develop players will be extremely valuable to our team. We are excited to have Corey back with Wolves baseball!"
"It is great to be back at Northern," said Harrell. "When I was given the opportunity to return to a place that feels like home it was an easy decision."
Harrell served as the assistant coach for the Cougars beginning in 2024, building the program from the ground up. He managed the team's offensive programming and defensive development with the catchers. In addition, he assisted with the recruitment of a roster of 50 student-athletes as NICC enters their first season of competition in 2026.
Prior to joining the NICC staff, Harrell was the graduate assistant coach for the Wolves from 2022-24. In those two seasons, he assisted with the catchers, pitchers, and recruiting. Northern tallied two all-conference performers and broke five school records in the spring of 2024.
Harrell opened his collegiate coaching career at Presentation College from 2019-22 and Graceland University from 2018-19. He earned his bachelor's degree in Business Administration and Sports and Event Management from Graceland in 2019 and master's degree in Sport Performance and Leadership from Northern State in 2024.
