JOIN THE NMDP WITH NSU FOOTBALL, CELEBRATE NCAA D2 DAY

Aberdeen, S.D. – The Northern State University football team will host a NMDP Swab Event on campus February 24 and 25 with a goal of registering 400 participants with the National Marrow Donor Program. In conjunction with the fifth annual NCAA Division II Day today, Wolves football and Northern State Athletics are encouraging all members of the campus and Aberdeen communities to get involved with NMDP. Celebrate NCAA Division II Day with the Wolves and save lives with NMDP.

From 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on both Tuesday, February 24 and Wednesday, February 25 members of the campus and Aberdeen communities, ages 18-35, can visit the Northern State Student Center or Business and Health Innovation Center to participate and get swabbed.

Every three to four minutes, someone in the United States is diagnosed with a blood cancer. 75% of patients needing a blood stem cell transplant don't have a fully matched
donor in their family. They depend on NMDP to find an unrelated donor. Participants who swab their cheeks and join the NMDP Registry with be included in the search process for patients seeking bleed stem cell donorship. Full details on the NMDP process can be found HERE.

What is D2 Day?
DII Day is an opportunity for all individuals associated with Division II to celebrate the impact of athletics and of student-athletes on their campus and community. Every DII school and conference is encouraged to share the benefits of being a part of Division II and showcase student-athlete success stories on their athletics website and social media channels. Please note, after the success of the 2022 DII Day, this will be an annual celebration for Division II.
