WOLVES IN TENTH AFTER DAY ONE OF NSIC CHAMPIONSHIP

WEST FARGO, N.D. – Northern State sits in tenth place with 63 points through the final day of the 2025-26 NSIC swimming and diving championship. NSU tallied two top-ten finishes in the finals this evening.

PRELIMS
  • In the 200-yard IM, Marie Loest led the way for the Wolves, recording the 30th-fastest time in the event at 2:16.08, the final qualifying position in the event
  • Next up was freshman Ella Wanschura (2:20.60), who took 39th, followed by Lorelai Grund (2:24.21) in 41st and Riley Vraniak (2:32.20) in 43rd
  • Sydney Rogers, Mazie Finch and Maya Hentges finished back to back to back in the 50-yard freestyle, with Rogers taking 38th in the event in 25.20 seconds, tied with Michaela Desmond of UMary
  • Finch took 40th at 25.28 seconds and Hentges recorded a time of 25.33 seconds for 41st
  • Laila Gordillo took 55th in the same event at 26.38 seconds and Sidney Masgras finished 57th at 26.57 seconds
  • Ilyanna Hailger (27.18 seconds) and Emma Beavers (27.33 seconds) followed in 60th and 61st, respectively

FINALS
  • In the 200-yard medley relay, Finch, Rogers, Wanschura and Masgras finished ninth at 1:51.63, while Vraniak, Beavers, Grund and Gordillo took 18th with a time of 1:56.59
  • Gordillo, Moore, Grund and Loest took 10th in the 800-yard freestyle relay at 8:17.30, while Hentges, Hailger, Vraniak and Kenna Remily took 19th at 8:56.29 to round out the first day
 
PERSONAL BESTS
  • Loest and Grund earned PRs in the 200-yard IM, while Hentges and Rogers did the same in the 50-yard freestyle

UP NEXT
The Wolves will be back in the water tomorrow morning at 9 a.m. in West Fargo for the preliminary rounds before competing in the finals at 5 p.m.
