DAY ONE OF UND OPEN COMES TO A CLOSE

Grand Forks, N.D. – The Northern State University track and field team kicked off action at the UND Open Friday. Action commenced with the men's heptathlon and the women's pentathlon.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED FOR THE MEN
  • After day one at the UND Open, the Wolves hold the second and third spots in the multi standings
  • Eli Radtke led the way for Northern with 2,765 points; he timed a 7.18 60m and cleared 6.38m (long jump), 11.99m (shot put), and 1.85m (high jump)
  • Jeffery Boschee followed with 2,727 total first-day points; his 60m time was 7.62 while he marked 6.39m (long jump), 11.04m (shot put), and 2.03m (high jump)
  • With 2,317 points after day one, Elias Londahl ran a 7.65 60m and covered 6.05m in the long jump, 10.42m in the shot put, and 1.70m in the high jump
  • Crossing the 60m finish line at 7.18, marking 9.79m in the shot put, and clearing 1.52m in the high jump was Brener Conrad, totaling 1,696 points on the first day
BEYOND THE RESULTS
  • Conrad and Radtke each set personal bests with their 7.18 time in the 60m
  • Also in the 60m, Boschee ran a personal record 7.62 time
 
HOW IT HAPPENED FOR THE WOMEN
  • The women saw two Wolves on day one of the UND Open compete in the pentathalon
  • Coming in third with 3,325 points, Morgan Sheldon had times of 9.34 in the 60m hurdles and 2:36.93 in the 800m; Sheldon also had marks of 1.54m (high jump), 11.05m (shot put), and 5.19m (long jump)
  • The other Wolf in the pent was Addison Cumbow with a total of 2,402 points
  • Cumbow ran a 9.92 60m hurdles and a 3:12.54 800m; she also cleared 1.42m in the high jump, threw 8.56m in the shot put, and jumped 4.58m in the long jump
BEYOND THE RESULTS
  • Sheldon's long jump distance of 5.19m set a new personal best
