Aberdeen, S.D. - Northern State's Jayden Munroe (men's track and field) and Renea Taylor (women's track and field) are this week's South Dakota Army National Guard Athletes of the Week following their performances last weekend.
Munroe took first place in two events last Thursday against Jamestown. He set a 7.27m mark in the men's long jump. The men's triple jump saw Munroe cover 14.04m, 1.28m more than the second place finisher. His mark in the men's long jump ranks ninth in the nation. The Bahamas native added an eighth place finish in the 55m with a time of 6.72.
Taylor took first place in three events last Thursday. She ran a 7.08 in the women's 55m to secure her first stop standing of the day. In the 55m hurdles, Taylor crossed the finish line in 8.16, setting a new personal record. Her time of 25.05 in the women's 200m earned Taylor her final first place of the dual meet.
