Aberdeen, S.D. - Northern State's Rudy Lopez (wrestling) and Izzy Moore (women's basketball) are this week's South Dakota Army National Guard Athletes of the Week following their performances last weekend.
Lopez went 2-0 for the Wolves from the Iron Mike Duals with a pair of ranked wins. He defeated No. 14 Garrett Lyons of Central Missouri in a 4-1 decision. The graduate student tallied a 9-4 decision victory over No. 7 Sabian Russell of Quincy, extending the Wolves lead to 14-0 in the dual. The Colorado native improved to 11-4 on the year. Northern swept the dual tournament with a 3-0 record notching wins over No. 17 Central Missouri, (RV) Quincy, and Fort Hays State.
Moore led the Wolves to a 1-1 record over the weekend, featuring 26 points in Northern State's dominant 88-47 victory over Augustana. Through her last two games, Moore averaged 23.5 points, eight rebounds, four assists and two steals while shooting 50% (15 of 30) from the floor, 61.1% (11 of 18) from deep and 75% (6 of 8) from the charity stripe. The South Dakota native recorded her second double-double of the season in the loss to Wayne State on Friday, tallying 21 points and 11 rebounds. Moore is on a three-game streak of scoring at least 20 points.
