Chadron, Neb. – The No. 25 Northern State University volleyball team opened their season with a pair of sweeps against UMary and Chadron State on Friday. The Wolves out-scored their opponents 123-64 in the two victories, hitting a combined .393.

HOW IT HAPPENED vs. MARY
- The Wolves scored 60 points in the win against the Marauders with set scores of 25-12, 25-19, and 25-7
- Northern led the match with 43 kills, 39 assists, 34 digs, 11 aces, and six blocks, hitting .467 as a team
- They held the Marauders to 24 kills, forcing 16 errors for a .103 attack percentage
- Abby Brooks led the attack for NSU with 15 kills and a .722 attack percentage; the senior added four blocks and one dig
- In her first collegiate match, Ava Nilsson dished out 35 assists, averaging double figures, with three aces and seven digs
- Abby Schauer led the team on defense with 13 digs, while Linnea Nesheim matched Nilsson with a team best three aces
- Nesheim was second on the team with ten kills and a .412 attack percentage, while Katelyn Schroeder and Cara Cyr added six kills and two blocks each

HOW IT HAPPENED vs. CHADRON
- Northern took the match with set scores of 25-20, 25-11, and 25-22, scoring 63 total points
- They recorded a match leading 55 kills, 54 assists, and 50 digs, adding five blocks and three aces
- Offensively, NSU hit .343, including a set high .441 in the second, while holding CSC to a .136 attack percentage
- Linnea Nesheim led the Wolves with a career high 17 kills, hitting .400 in the night cap
- Katelyn Schroeder followed with a career high of her own, notching 12 kills with a .381 attack percentage, and Natalia Szybinska rounded out the double figure bunch with 11 kills
- Abby Schauer led the defensive effort with 12 digs, followed by Ava Nilsson and Shroeder with 11 and ten respectively
- Nilsson added to the career making day, dishing out 51 total assists, averaging 17.00 per set in the win
- Abby Brooks and Cara Cyr tallied eight and seven kills respectively and led the team at the net with two and three blocks
- Sara Moberg led the team with two aces and Nilsson added the third
