BLOCK, SCHAUER NAMED ARMY NATIONAL GUARD ATHLETES OF THE WEEK

Aberdeen, S.D. - Northern State's Wyatt Block (football) and Abby Schauer (volleyball) are this week's South Dakota Army National Guard Athletes of the Week following their performances last weekend. 

Block led Northern State and the Northern Sun with 163 yards rushing in the Wolves 53-14 victory over UMary. He scored two rushing touchdowns, his first rushing scores of the 2025 season. The Minnesota native averaged 12.5 yards per carry with a 96-yard long. His 96-yard rushing touchdown broke the single game school record for longest scoring run set back in 2005. The senior moved up to third in the NSIC averaging 86.8 yards per game with 347 total season yards.

Schauer led the Northern Sun last week averaging 7.11 digs per set against UJ, MSU, and SCSU. She recorded 64 total digs, as well as three assists and two aces. The senior tallied a weekend high 24 digs against Minnesota State. The South Dakota native added 20 digs against Jamestown and St. Cloud. Schauer sits fifth in the nation and first in the NSIC in digs per set this season, averaging 5.78.
