Burnsville, Minn. – The Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference released the 2025-26 Preseason Swimming & Diving Coaches' Poll today with Northern State picked tenth in the league. The Wolves tallied 12 points in the poll.
Ella Wanschura and
Jacie Flockhart were selected as the team's swimmer and diver to watch heading into the season.
The NSIC Swimming and Diving season will get underway on Friday, September 26 with the regular season culminating at the NSIC Swimming & Diving Championship on February 11-14, 2026 at the Hulbert Aquatic Center in West Fargo, North Dakota.
LOOKING BACK AT 2024-25
In 2024-25, Northern State went 1-8 overall and 0-4 against league opponents in dual action. Two school records were broken by
Jacie Flockhart in the 1M dive with marks of 251.05 in the 6-dive and 426.05 in the 11-dive. The Wolves finished ninth at the NSIC Championships, scoring 170 points.
LOOKING AHEAD TO 2025-26
Northern adds a class of seven heading into the season, in addition to nine returners. The 2025-26 roster hails from 12 states and two countries.
HUNTRODS' THOUGHTS
- On the Team: "We are coming into this year with a strong and close-knit team. From the start of everyone arriving to campus we can tell this team will be special and build well together. They are supportive from the weight room to the pool working. We've added depth and speed to our program this year, along with a great deal of determination and spirit. We have a great class of incoming freshmen and a solid core of upperclassmen to lead the way. Speaking with our coaches, captains and community members, we are all excited for what our Wolves will accomplish this year. Go Wolves!"
- On Wanschura: "Coming out of Forest Lake Minnesota, Ella is a freshman that is determined to succeed. From the initial phone calls, we knew she is going to be a strong breaststroker, fierce competitor and good teammate. Ella is looking forward to competition and being part of the team. We are excited to have her join the Pack and contribute to Northern's success."
- On Flockhart: "Jacie is coming off another record-breaking season to start her junior year. She is coming in with new dives, higher levels of difficulty and a drive to make that championship team. Each year Jacie improves; Coach Mattern has done a tremendous job developing her skills and putting her into a position to really make an impact in the NSIC this year. We look forward to seeing Jacie dive into the season."
