Jayden Munroe (men's track & field) and
Morgan Sheldon (women's track & field) are this week's South Dakota Army National Guard Athletes of the Week following their performances last weekend.
Munroe scored 18 points for the Northern State men who finished third at the NSIC Outdoor Championships over the weekend. He won his first NSIC Championship on Friday in the long jump, just missing his season best and school record of 7.44m with a 7.43m jump. On Saturday, Munroe finished as the runner-up in the triple jump with a 14.75m leap. He closes out the season with two NSIC All-Conference performances, a pair of national provisional marks, and the outdoor long jump record.
Sheldon earned all-conference accolades in the heptathlon, taking third and breaking the school record with 4,830 points; she notched marks of 14.64 in the 100m hurdles, 1.59m in the high jump, 11.61m in the shot put, 26.89 in the 200m, 5.19m in the long jump, 34.69m in the javelin, and 2:30.91 in the 800m. She bested the school record of head coach
Lynne Dingman of 4,617 set back in 2000. Sheldon recorded the top mark in both the javelin and shot put.
