Munroe, Carlson Named Army National Guard Athletes of the Week

Aberdeen, S.D. - Northern State's Jayden Munroe (men's track & field) and Summer Carlson (women's track & field) are this week's South Dakota Army National Guard Athletes of the Week following their performances last weekend.
 
Munroe broke the Northern State school record in the triple jump at the SDSU D2/NAIA Open, jumping 14.26m. The previous mark of 14.18m set in 1982 and tied again in 2006. He finished as the runner-up in the event and added a fifth place finish in the long jump with a 6.84m mark. The sophomore ranks fourth in the triple jump and top-15 in the long jump in the NSIC.
 
Carlson broke the Northern State 800m record at the SDSU D2/NAIA Open. She ran to a time of 2:17.41, besting the previous mark set in 2022. In addition, the senior was a member of the ninth place 4x400m relay that finished in 4:02.85. She ranks seventh in the NSIC in the 800m.
