NORTHERN STATE STORYLINES
  • Northern State was picked tenth in the 2025-26 NSIC Preseason Poll (107 points) and fifth in the North Division (27 points)
  • A season ago, the Wolves finished with a 19-11 (15-7 NSIC) record, featuring three ranked wins
  • The NSIC named Izzy Moore, who averaged 8.1 points, 3.8 rebounds and 1.4 assists last year, as NSU's Player to Watch going into the 2025-26 campaign
  • Northern State took down Valley City State in an exhibition game 60-53 on Oct. 23
  • Moore finished the game with 12 points, ten rebounds and three assists, while Morgan Fiedler and Taylor Tool notched 11 points apiece
  • All but two of Fiedler's points came from deep, shooting 75% from beyond the arc
  • On defense, Tool led the charge with two steals and a block
  • Telia Graham, who transferred in from Alaska Anchorage, and Carli Kuyper finished with 10 boards each
  • As a team, Northern State went 34.3% from the field and 31.3% from range
  • The Northern State Wolves are led by head coach Paula Krueger, who is in her eighth season with the team
 
PITTSBURG STATE STORYLINES
  • The Gorillas were picked third in the MIAA 2025-26 Coaches Poll (five votes)
  • In 2024-25, Pittsburg State went 33-4 (18-1 MIAA) and received a No. 1 seed in the 2025 Division II Women's Basketball Championship
  • After beating Harding, Minnesota State, Southwest Minnesota State and Lubbock Christian, the Gorillas lost 68-61 to Grand Valley State, the overall winner of the tournament in the semifinals
  • Pittsburg State averaged 75 points, 41.2 rebounds and 15.3 assists per game last season and made 46.4% of their field goals and 33.2% of their 3-pointers
  • Macie Mays and Harper Schreiner return to the starting lineup, where Mays tallied 11.2 points, 3.3 boards and 1.2 assists per game in 2024-25
  • Schreiner recorded 54 steals last season, leading the team in the category
  • The Gorillas are led by eighth-year head coach Amanda Davied, who holds a 148-62 record
 
WOLVES AND GORILLAS HISTORY
  • Pittsburg State is 3-0 against Northern State, beating the Wolves 85-55 on Nov. 8, 2024
 
NEBRASKA KEARNEY STORYLINES
  • The Lopers are 2-1 on the season with wins tallied against Colorado School of Mines (72-70) and UT Tyler (56-46)
  • UNK's only loss on the season came by way of Colorado State Pueblo (84-80)
  • Nebraska Kearney is averaging 69.3 points per game and has outscored its opponents 208-200, shooting 40.2% from the field and 30% from range as a team
  • Freshman Myleigh Weers has been an offensive threat for the Lopers, averaging 16 points, 6.3 rebounds and 2.7 assists per game and shooting 50% from the field and from beyond the arc
  • With seven rebounds per game, center Tara Biocanin leads the team in boards (12 offensive rebounds) and averages 9.7 points on 64.7% from the floor
  • Jordan Seers leads the team in steals with six and blocks with four while also averaging 14 points, 6.7 rebounds and one assist per game
  • Drew Johnson is in his third year with the program, accumulating a 41-21 record with the team
 
WOLVES AND LOPERS HISTORY
  • Northern State holds a 7-4 advantage over Nebraska Kearney, losing its last matchup 69-65 in the 2024-25 season at home
