NORTHERN STATE STORYLINES

  • The Wolves enter their first season under the direction of head coach Matt Wilber and assistant coaches Jack Nelson and Wes Smith
  • Wilber is the seventh head coach since the 1945-46 season and fifth in the NCAA Division II era in Northern State men's basketball history and joined NSU after coaching stops at Augustana, Sioux Falls, South Dakota State, Dakota Wesleyan, and the Phoenix Mercury of the WNBA
  • NSU welcomes nine new faces heading into the season, including seven transfer student-athletes
  • Northern was picked 13th in the NSIC Preseason Coaches Poll and fifth in the North Division, while James Glenn was selected as the team's player to watch heading into 2025-26
  • The Wolves fell to Murray State in their exhibition opener last week 112-74
  • Joshua Book and Simon Akena led three in double figures with 14 and 13 points respectively
 

WYOMING STORYLINES

  • The Cowboys kicked off their season with exhibition wins over Northern Colorado (69-65) and College of Idaho (111-63)
  • Wyoming returns a pair of players from last season team in Matija Belic and Abou Magassa
  • The Pokes welcome 12 newcomers with seven transfers and five high school additions; the seven transfers come from three different levels of college basketball with four division I transfers, two from Division II and one from junior college
  • Northern State alum Sundance Wicks enters his second season at the helm of the program
