Burnsville, Minn. – The Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference released the 2025-26 Preseason Wrestling Coaches' Poll today with Northern State University picked sixth. The Wolves tallied 57 points in the poll, while Sloan Johanssen was selected as the team's wrestler to watch.
NSIC Wrestling's non-conference schedule gets underway on Saturday, November 1 with the 10 match NSIC dual schedule starting on December 4 and continuing throughout the year. The NCAA Super Region V Championships are scheduled for Saturday, February 28 at the RA Facility in Marshall, Minnesota while the NCAA Championships will take place on Friday-Saturday, March 13-14 at the Denny Sanford Premier Center in Sioux Falls, South Dakota; co-hosted by the NSIC and the Sioux Falls Sports Authority.
LOOKING BACK AT 2024-25
Northern went 7-3 overall and 6-3 in the Northern Sun last season. The Wolves spent time ranked in the NWCA Top-25 Poll and three wrestlers found themselves included in the individual rankings.
Wyatt Turnquist was honored on the NSIC All-Conference team and later garnered CSC Academic All-District honors.
LOOKING AHEAD TO 2025-26
The Wolves enter their first season under the direction of head coach
Josh Nolan. NSU welcomes ten incoming freshmen and two transfers in 2025-26. They open their season on November 2 at the Jamestown Jimmie Open.

It's been awesome to see their development through the off season, and I can't wait to watch their hard work pay off when we step on the mat this year."
- On Johannsen: "Sloan had an impressive true freshman season, showing growth both mentally and physically every time he stepped on the mat. He's an athlete who shows up every day ready to work, improve, and push those around him. Since the conclusion of last season, he's demonstrated outstanding consistency in his training, and we expect him to emerge as a leader on our team."
