The 2024 Academic All-District® Football teams, selected by College Sports Communicators, recognize the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the field and in the classroom were announced this week. Members of the 2024 Northern State roster Luke Gunderson and Kegan Mountain were honored in the release.
 
Both were selected as CSC Academic All-America® finalists and will advance to the national ballot to be voted on by CSC members. First-, second- and third-team Academic All-America® honorees will be announced January 28, 2025.
  
Mountain started all 11 games for the Wolves and led the secondary with a league best five interceptions. The sophomore added 44 tackles, including 31 solo stops and 2.0 tackles for a loss, and five pass breakups. He recorded a season best ten tackles in the Wolves season finale win over Wayne State. In the Wolves win over Southwest Minnesota State, Mountain recorded his fourth interception of the season and added a season best 55-yard return. In addition, Mountain added 29 punt return yards against Sioux Falls and Minot State. Mountain is earning a degree in psychology and was named to the NSIC All-Conference first team this past fall.

Gunderson started all 11 games for the Wolves and finished the year fifth on the team with 52 tackles. He recorded 27 solo stops, 5.0 tackles for a loss of 16 yards, and 1.0 sack. In addition, the senior grabbed two interceptions and broke up five passing attempts. He tallied a season best eight tackles in Northern's season finale against Wayne State, as well as his second interception of the year. Gunderson is a physical education major at Northern State and was honored on the NSIC All-Conference second team in his final season as a Wolf.
 
The Division II and III CSC Academic All-America® programs are partially financially supported by the NCAA Division II and III national governance structures to assist CSC with handling the awards fulfillment aspects for the 2024-25 Divisions II and III Academic All-America® programs. The NAIA CSC Academic All-America® program is partially financially supported through the NAIA governance structure.
