Sioux Falls, S.D. – The Northern State University wrestling team rallied Thursday evening with five match victories and a dual win over No. 7 Augustana. The Wolves opened the dual strong, winning 4-of-the-5 opening weights and Nathan Schauer capped off the dual with a hard-fought win in the final bout.

HOW IT HAPPENED

• Sloan Johannsen started the Wolves off with a win, defeating Christian Olsen in a 9-4 decision
• Brenden Salfrank battled at 133 pounds, however fell in a 2-0 decision and the dual was tied at 3-all
• No. 11 Braydon Mogle kicked off three straight wins for NSU with an injury victory over Connor Whiteley at the end of the first; Mogle led 7-0 at the time of the injury
• The 149-pound bout was the lone top-10 face-off of the evening with No. 6 Wyatt Turnquist taking on No. 2 Cael Larson; Turnquist tallied a 3-0 decision victory over the Viking and extended the Wolves lead to 9-3
• Griffin Lundeen made quick work of Payton Anderson at 157-pounds, defeating the redshirt junior in a 15-0 technical fall at 4:42
• Augustana went on a four match win streak, taking an 18-17 lead over NSU with one bout remaining
• Nathan Schauer scored first at 285-pounds with a takedown in the opening period, and extended that lead with two points in the second
• Max Balow rallied in the third scoring three, however Schauer defended his lead and secured the riding time point for a 6-3 decision victory and the dual win
• The win for NSU is just the third for the Wolves over the Vikings in program history and first since January of 2019
