Winter Haven, Fla. – For the second day, the Northern State University softball team went 1-1 from the Diamond Plex. The Wolves opened their day with a 4-1 victory over Quincy University and ultimately fell to American International College in a pair of 8-inning affairs.

HOW IT HAPPENED vs. QUINCY
- The Wolves kicked off the game with one run in the top of the first off the bat of Elly Smith with a single to right, scoring Claire Zbylut
- The Hawks tied the game in the sixth and neither team was able to take the lead in the seventh
- Northern put themselves ahead and added some insurance in the top of the eighth with three runs
- Liv Richardson and Taylor Colemen scored on a double by Elly Smith, and Smith came around to score on a single to right by Madi Jones
- Smith led the team offensively, as the only Wolf to record a multiple hit game, going 3-for-4 with three RBI
- Coleman threw her third win of the season, giving up just one earned run on four hits with seven strikeouts
NORTHERN STATE STATISTICAL STANDOUTS
HOW IT HAPPENED vs. AMERICAN INTERNATIONAL
- Each team tallied a 5-run inning in the Wolves second game of the day, with Northern notching five in the second and American International adding five in the seventh
- AIC scored in their first at-bats of the contest and NSU answered with 1-run in the bottom of the first on an Elly Smith single, scoring Claire Zbylut
- Northern took a 6-1 lead in the second scoring five runs on four hits with Kamdyn Barrientos, Lexi Chase, Zbylut, Liv Richardson, and Emma Owens crossing home plate in the inning
- American International tacked on one run in the fifth and added five runs on five hits in the top of the seventh to take the lead
- The Wolves battled with Alexandria Arndt scoring the game tying run, following a pinch hit single by the senior
- AIC tallied two runs in the top of the eighth and the Wolves were unable to get things going offensively
- Zbylut and Smith led the team with four and three hits respectively, as the Wolves scored their seven runs on 11 team hits
- Abby Meads started in the circle, giving up one earned run on three hits in 1.1 innings of work
- Mckenzie Wanner and Abby Rux entered in relief, with Rux ultimately suffering her first loss of the season
