Northern Opens SD Mines Dual with Strong Multi Performances

Aberdeen, S.D. – The Northern State University track and field teams kicked off their weekend against South Dakota Mines on Friday with the multi events. The Northern State women took the top-3 spots in the pentathlon, while two Wolves sit in the top-3 of the heptathlon.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED FOR THE MEN
  • Jeffrey Boschee leads the way for the men, sitting second in the heptathlon with 2,505 points; recording marks of 7.16 in the 55m, 5.92m in the long jump, 10.55m in the shot put, and 1.96m in the high jump
  • Sean Juengst sits third with 2,491 points, recording marks of 7.16 in the 55m, 5.94m in the long jump, 10.69m in the shot put, and 1.93m in the high jump
  • Ross Kortenbusch and Issac Ligon rounded out the top-5 with point totals of 2,407 and 2,388 respectively
  • Kortenbusch recorded marks of 6.90 in the 55m, 5.70m in the long jump, 12.43m in the shot put, and 1.66m in the high jump
  • Ligon notched marks of 6.88 in the 55m, 5.75m in the long jump, 11.07m in the shot put, and 1.72m in the high jump
 
HOW IT HAPPENED FOR THE WOMEN
  • Morgan Sheldon won the pentathlon with 3,239 points, recording marks of 8.71 in the 55m hurdles, 1.59m in the high jump, 10.81m in the shot put, 5.00m in the long jump, and 2:43.00 in the 800m
  • Tayla Dobrenski took second with 2,920 points, notching marks of 8.95 in the 55m hurdles, 1.62m in the high jump, 9.62m in the shot put, 4.89m in the long jump, and 3:02.44 in the 800m
  • Addison Cumbow rounded out the top-3 with 2,515 points and marks of 9.04 in the 55m hurdles, 1.41m in the high jump, 9.16m in the shot put, 4.67m in the long jump, and 3:09.78 in the 800m
 
UP NEXT
Tomorrow opens with the conclusion of the heptathlon at 9 a.m. for the men. Full team competition opens at 12 p.m. for the field events and 1:30 p.m. for the running events. Live results from the meet can be found HERE.
