NORTHERN STATE STORYLINES

  • The Wolves enter their 24-25 campaign picked second in the NSIC Preseason Coaches' Poll with 184 points
  • Madelyn Bragg was named not only the team's player to watch for the season, but the NSIC Preseason Player of the Year
  • The Wolves went 20-9 overall and 16-6 in the Northern Sun, finishing fourth in the league standings a year ago
  • They closed out the season ranked top-5 in the NSIC in scoring, scoring defense, field goal percentage, field goal percentage defense, free throw percentage, and assist/turnover ratio
  • Rianna Fillipi and Bragg earned All-Conference honors, as the pair led the team in numerous categories
  • Fillipi grabbed the Northern State single season record averaging 5.0 assists per game and became the career record holder with 415 total assists
  • The Wolves shot 42.2% from the floor, 30.9% from the 3-point line, and 73.9% from the foul line last season
  •  They averaged 67.5 points, 39.1 rebounds, 14.3 assists, 14.2 turnovers, 6.8 steals, and 4.0 blocks per game
  • Bragg and Fillipi led the team averaging 17.9 and 12.7 points per game respectively, as well as 6.8 and 7.0 boards per game
  • In addition, Northern returns starters Alayna Benike and Morgan Fielder, as well as Decontee Smith who appeared in all 29 contests
  • Northern had a successful off season signing five freshman and adding transfers Izzy Moore and Michaela Jewett out of Augustana
  • Paula Krueger enters her seventh season at the helm for the Wolves
 

DAKOTA STATE STORYLINES

  • The Trojans open the 2024-25 season ranked No. 6 in the NAIA Coaches' Poll, the highest ranking in program history
  • DSU was picked to win the North Star Athletic Association
  • Dakota State went 28-7 a season ago, winning their fourth straight NSAA Championship
  •  In addition, the Trojans reached the NAIA National quarterfinal round
  • The Trojans shot 45.0% from the floor, 34.8% from the 3-point line, and 69.3% from the foul line last season
  • In addition, they averaged 79.5 points, 38.4 rebounds, 15.8 assists, 15.3 turnovers, 12.9 steals, and 4.5 blocks per game
  • The NSAA Defensive Player of the Year and first team All-Conference selection Tabor Teel returns for DSU
  • Dakota State is led by head coach David Moe in his eighth season at the helm

THE WOLVES AND TROJANS HISTORY

  • The Wolves and Trojans last faced off in the 2007-08 season with Northern recording a 68-54 victory
  • Northern State is 21-4 all-time against Dakota State
