NWCA National Duals Opens for No. 18 Wolves Against No. 1 Hilltoppers

Aberdeen, S.D. – The No. 18 Northern State University wrestling team is set for the NWCA National Duals this Friday and Saturday in Cedar Falls, Iowa. The Wolves will open the competition against No. 1 West Liberty at 2 p.m. on Friday. The competition is a bracketed team dual format with the Wolves next match slated for 4 p.m., win or lose against No. 8 Indianapolis or No. 17 Augustana.

#18 NORTHERN STATE STORYLINES
  • Northern closed out the 2023 calendar year at the Midwest Classic, placing ninth as a team with 85.5 points
  • Turnquist placed first at 149 pounds, while Bahr took third at 157 pounds
  • NSU is currently 3-3 in dual action
  • The NWCA release their third coaches poll of 2023-24 with the Wolves ranked 18th in the country

  • Five wrestlers are individually ranked including No. 5 Nico Taddy (149), No. 2 Jamar Williams (157), No. 11 Alec Cook (165), No. 1 Ty McGeary (184), and No. 1 Francesco Borsellino (285)
  • WLU is led by head coach Danny Irwin in his fourth season at the helm
