FAN PRIMER | Wolves Volleyball Host Golden Eagles and Beavers in NSIC Opening Weekend

Aberdeen, S.D. – The Northern State University volleyball team opens both their home slate and NSIC play this Friday and Saturday against Minnesota Crookston and Bemidji State. Match start times are set for 6 p.m. on Friday against the Golden Eagles and 2 p.m. on Saturday versus the Beavers.

NORTHERN STATE STORYLINES

  • The Wolves enter NSIC play with a 7-1 record overall and a 7-match win streak
  • Northern is hitting .216 thus far, averaging 12.4 kills, 11.6 assists, 19.2 digs, 1.7 aces, and 2.6 blocks per set
  • Morissen Samuels leads the Northern State offense with 93 total kills, averaging 3.21 per set, while Abby Brooks is hitting a team best .318 with 59 kills
  • Keri Walker paces the offense with 297 total assists this season, averaging 11.59 per set
  • Reece Johnson and Sara Moberg lead the team at the service line with 11 and ten aces respectively this season

MINNESOTA CROOKSTON STORYLINES

  • The Golden Eagles enter the weekend with a 2-6 record overall
  • Minnesota Crookston is hitting .102 this season, averaging 9.4 kills, 8.7 assists, 14.1 digs, 1.6 aces, and 1.1 blocks per set
  • Audrey Cariveau and Madison Carsten lead the offense with 64 kills apiece, while Mara Weisensel is hitting a team best .255
  • Dana Melby has 198 total assists this season, averaging 7.07 per set
  • The Golden Eagle defense is led by Kailee Waasdrop with 137 total digs, averaging 4.89 per set, and Weisensel with 12.0 total blocks, averaging 0.44 per set
  • Minnesota Crookston is led by head coach Nick Meseck in his second season at the helm

  • Ashley Crowl and Hallie Mertz lead the offense with 80 and 79 kills respectively this season, while Zayda Priebe is hitting a team leading .389
  • Emily Wade paces the offense with 248 total assists, averaging 7.75 assists per set, followed by Hally Holker with 65 assists
  • Lauren Justesen leads the defensive effort with 137 total digs, averaging 4.28 per set, while Rylie Bjerklie leads the team at the net with 21.0 total blocks, averaging 0.66 per set
  • Bemidji State is led by head coach Kevin Ulmer in his seventh season at the helm of the program

Entrances to the Facility & Gate Opening Times

While the Barnett Center Has numerous entrances to the facility, fans should enter through the main north doors on game day. The ticket gate, located in the Barnett Center lobby, will open one hour prior to first serve for all general admission and same day ticket sales. Individuals included in the Northern State passbook must sign in via the far right line at the main gate.  There is no re-entry into the facility.

Parking

Parking for all home Northern State volleyball contests is free for all fans in the Barnett Center main lot. Please note that the Barnett Center lot is used as a paid tailgating lot during all Northern State football home contests. On dates where football and volleyball coincide free and paid parking will be clearly marked for all fans. 

Concessions

The Northern State concession stands are operated by Sodexo and offer a wide range of options for fans of all ages. Enjoy an ice-cold Coca-Cola product, bite into a soft pretzel with cheese, a world famous Wolf dog, or walking taco. Don’t forget to grab a freshly made popcorn or batch of Wisconsin cheese curds from one of the concession stands near you at all home Wolves athletic events. New in 2023 Northern State students can use their Thunder Bucks at all Sodexo concessions stands. 

Online Ticketing

Wolves Club season tickets and general admission passes can be purchased online at nsuwolves.universitytickets.com or at the gate on game day. The fully automated system allows fans to select their seat for game day with tickets sent directly to your email or mobile device. Pricing for season and single game tickets is available at nsuwolves.com/tickets. Senior and youth tickets are only available for purchase at the gate on game days. All game day ticket sales will be available at the main entrance to the Athletic & Recreation Fields for soccer.
