2023 Volleyball Season Primer: The Go to Place for the Wolves

Northern picked eighth in NSIC Preseason poll, full roster, players to watch, and more!

The Northern State University volleyball team returns to campus this weekend and will officially kick off the 2023 season on Friday, September 1 in Arkansas. The Wolves were picked eighth in the NSIC Preseason Coaches' Poll earning 108 points. Keri Walker was tabbed as the team's player to watch this fall, coming off a solid sophomore campaign at the setter position. For full information on the NSIC Preseason Release click here.

In the fall of 2022, the Wolves went 18-11 overall and 13-7 in the league, finishing seventh in the Northern Sun. Three Wolves tallied NSIC All-Conference honors including Sally Gaul (first team), Taylor Buckley (second team), and Keri Walker (second team). Gaul concluded her Northern State career as an AVCA All-America honorable mention team member. 

In addition, head coach Brent Aldridge became the all-time wins leader at Northern State with 224 total victories from 2011-2022. 

“What excites me about the season is the challenge of taking a very young team into the nation's No. 1 Division II volleyball conference and competing at the highest standard possible. We are looking to grow as a team exponentially with each opportunity. The depth we have at each position will be key in our training and overall development as the season progresses."

"Keri graduated this spring with her undergraduate degree in Education. She will obtain her master's in education degree over the next two years. Keri is a wonderful volleyball player, student athlete but an even better person. We will look for her leadership again as a Captain. During her career so far, Keri has made some very good changes in her game and is always looking to improve her skill set.”
