Wolves Softball Strands 15 in Two Losses to St. Cloud State

St. Joseph, Minn. – In their last mid-week road contest of the 2023 season, the Northern State University softball team fell twice to St. Cloud State. The Wolves struggled to get things going offensively, scoring one run in the two contests, and gave up four errors defensively.

HOW IT HAPPENED – GAME 1
  • It was all St. Cloud State in game one as the Huskies tallied three runs in the first, three in the fourth, and two in the fifth
  • Only three SCSU runs were earned in the game that saw four hits and three errors from the Wolves and six hits from the Huskies
  • Kyra Knudtson led the offense with two hits, while Abby Meads grabbed a double
  • Lexi Chase suffered the loss for the Wolves, giving up eight runs (three earned) on five hits with four strikeouts

HOW IT HAPPENED – GAME 2
  • St. Cloud State jumped out to an early lead in the first with two runs, however the Wolves cut that in half in the second
  • Ashley Fauske walked with the bases loaded, scoring Knudtson who led off the inning with a double down the left field line
  • The Huskies added four more runs in the third and two in the sixth, combining for 14 total hits
  • Northern recorded nine hits in game two, led by Avarie Eagle with a 3-hit game
  • Abby Rux suffered the loss for the Wolves, giving up eight runs (six earned) n 14 hits with three walks and two strikeouts
