Martin and Taylor Kick of Weekend Track Schedule with School Records and Top-5 Finishes

Long Beach, Calif. Josh Martin and Renea Taylor represented the Northern State University track and field teams from the Long Beach Pacific Coast Intercollegiate on Thursday. The pair placed in the top-5 in each event, including an event victory.
 
Martin kicked off the day with a race win in the 800m, finishing with a time of 1:53.89. Next up was Taylor in the 100m, taking third overall with a school record time of 11.58. Taylor improved upon her own school record of 11.59 set a weekend ago. The sophomore capped off her day with a fifth place finish in the 200m, racing to a school record time of 23.98. The previous 200m record was set by Hanneke Oosterwegel in 2017 with a time of 24.52. The provisional mark by Taylor in the 200m, places her in the top-20 nationally.
 
Northern State continues action tomorrow and Saturday at the Mt. SAC Relays and Concordia Invite. Competition start times at Concordia are set for 2 p.m. on Friday and 11:30 a.m. on Saturday. At Mt. SAC Taylor is set to compete in the 400m hurdles, Martin in the 1500m, and Jackson Harrison in the 5000m.
