Jack Paulson (baseball) and
Renea Taylor (women's track & field) have been named as the South Dakota Army National Guard Athletes of the Week for their athletic efforts last week.
Paulson helped lead the Wolves to a 3-2 week as they split with Augustana in Tuesday's doubleheader and took two games in this weekend's series against Sioux Falls. He hit 10-for-19 at the plate in five games played with two walks, three doubles, one homerun, nine RBI, and seven runs scored during the week. He recorded multiple hits in four of the five contests this week, including two games with three hits. He now has eight multi-hit games this season and earned his first two multi-RBI games of the season this past weekend against USF. Paulson entered the AU series hitting only .278 and raised his batting average to .330 at the conclusion of the week.
Taylor won two events, broke a school record, and tallied a national provisional time from the Dutch Invite this weekend. She recorded her first win of the day in the 100m with a new school record and provisional mark of 11.59, which currently ranks 11th in the event nationally. She added an event victory in the 400m hurdles with a time of 1:02.83, which ranks fifth in the NSIC. Taylor also ran on the winning 4x100m relay that finished in 48.56 and ranks fifth in the league standings.
