Minneapolis, MN – Northern State fell victim to the series sweep on Friday morning as they fell to Minnesota State 5-2 at U.S. Bank Stadium. The Wolves took the early lead, however a 5-run third inning was enough for the Mavericks to secure the win.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Austin Portner hit a leadoff single to left field to open the game and was brought home on an RBI single by Niko Pezonella to right field, giving Northern State the early 1-0 lead
- Max Otto kept the Minnesota State bats at bay early on, sending the Mavericks down in order in the first two innings while striking out three
- MSU took control of the game in the bottom of the third inning, scoring five runs off five hits and an error, giving the Mavericks a 5-1 lead through three innings
- Otto was able to regain his composure once again in the fourth inning, sending Minnesota State down in order for the third time in four innings with another pair of strikeouts in the inning
- Reece Ragatz tallied the final run of the game with a solo homerun to right field, cutting the deficit to 5-2 in the top of the ninth inning
- In his fourth start of the season Otto (0-3) suffered the loss on the mound, pitching 5.0 innings with four scoreless innings and total of six strikeouts
- Jack Miller, Blake Ask, and Mitchell Tolk each pitched 1.0 inning of relief in the game and did not surrender a hit against the Mavericks; Miller and Tolk recorded one strikeout a piece
- Northern State scored their two runs off five hits and committed one error defensively
