Northern State Holds Down No. 2 Spot in Third Region Rankings

INDIANAPOLIS - The final NCAA Division II men's basketball regional rankings before Sunday's selection show were released this afternoon, with the Northern State University Wolves landing at No. 2 in the Central Region. This installment of the regional rankings includes game played through February 26, 2023 and does not include Northern's semifinal contest against Minnesota Duluth.
 
The Wolves are joined by NSIC opponents No. 5 MSU Moorhead, No. 6 Minnesota Duluth, No. 8 Sioux Falls, No. 9 Bemidji State. MSU Moorhead earned the automatic qualifier for the NSIC yesterday evening, winning the NSIC Tournament.

The NSIC and the Great American Conference and the Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association (MIAA) make up the 42-team NCAA DII Central Region this year.  The top eight teams in the region advance to the NCAA Regional Tournament on March 11-12, 14.  Automatic bids are granted to the winners of the NSIC, GAC and MIAA postseason tournaments, with the remaining five spots being awarded on an at-large basis.

The NCAA Men's Basketball Selection Show will air on www.NCAA.com on Sunday, March 5 at 10 p.m. (CT). The NCAA Elite Eight will take place on March 21-25 at The Ford Center in Evansville, Indiana.
