Columbus, Ga. – The Northern State University softball team capped off the NFCA Leadoff Classic on Sunday, going 1-1 versus California University-PA and Missouri Western State. The Wolves return to Aberdeen with a 1-5 record from Georgia.

HOW IT HAPPENED vs. CALIFORNIA UNIVERSITY-PA
- The Vulcans tallied one run in their first at-bats of the contest
- Northern tied the game in the bottom of the second on a single by Avarie Eagle that score Elly Smith
- The Wolves took the lead the following inning, as Smith walked with the bases loaded, scoring Kyra Knudtson
- Knudtson wasn't finished in the game, belting her second homerun of a season, a solo shot in the bottom of the fifth
- Cal added one run in the top of the seventh, but the Wolves ended the rally leaving the tying run on second
- Northern tallied their three runs on five hits with two errors defensively
- Abby Rux tossed her first collegiate win throwing all seven innings

HOW IT HAPPENED vs. MISSOURI WESTERN
- The Wolves tallied six hits and left eight runners on base in the loss to Missouri Western, unable to push across a run
- The Griffons score two in the second, one in the fourth, and three in the seventh with eight hits on the day
- Lexi Chase suffered the loss, giving up five earned runs on eight hits with three strikeouts and two walks

Northern will return to action March 12-14 in Missouri. The Wolves will face William Jewell in a double header on Sunday, March 12 and a single game on Monday, March 13. NSU will then travel for a doubleheader at Central Missouri on Tuesday, March 14.
