Aberdeen, S.D. – The Northern State University wrestling team opens their 2023-24 season this Saturday from the University of Jamestown Jimmie Open. Competition kicks off at 9 a.m. from the campus of UJ.

NORTHERN STATE STORYLINES

• The Wolves were picked fifth in the NSIC Preseason Coaches' Poll, earning 52 team points
• Northern went 10-5 overall and 5-4 in the NSIC a season ago
• Wyatt Turnquist, Cole Huss, and Devin Bahr qualified for the national tournament with Turnquist (3^rd) and Huss (8^th) notching All-America honors
• In addition, Turnquist was named a CSC Academic All-American®
• Earlier this week the NWCA release their preseason rankings with Wolves ranked 11^th in the country
• Four wrestlers garnered national rankings including Turnquist (#1 – 149), Bahr (#7 – 157), Huss (#7 – 197), and Treyton Cacek (#12 – 184)
• Rocky Burkett enters his ninth season at the helm of the program
