Wolves Set for Mid-Week Battle in Moorhead

Aberdeen, S.D. – The Northern State women's basketball team returns to NSIC North Division play for a mid-week contest at MSU Moorhead on Tuesday evening. The Wolves and Dragons are scheduled for a 5:30 p.m. tip-off at Nemzek Fieldhouse in Moorhead, Minnesota.

NORTHERN STATE STORYLINES
  • Northern State enters Tuesday's match-up with a record of 9-6 (4-5 NSIC)
  • The Wolves are currently tied for ninth place overall in the NSIC and are also tied for fifth in the North Division
  • Northern opened NSIC cross-division play with a sweep of Augustana (62-60) and Wayne State (66-60)
  • Last weekend's wins were NSU's first victories when trailing at halftime this season, the Wolves posted only one victory when trailing during the halftime break in 2021-22
  • Kailee Oliverson (12.4) and Laurie Rogers (11.9) are the only two Northern State players to average double figures in scoring

  • Northern State remains first in NCAA Division II in turnovers per game, committing the fewest in the country with 10.9 per game; the Wolves have committed ten or fewer turnovers in seven games with a 6-1 record in those contests
  • Northern also ranks 29th nationally with a 1.11 assist/turnover ratio with both Jordyn Hilgemann (2.33) and Fillipi (2.00) recording an assist/turnover ratio of 2.00 or higher
  • Rogers ranks within the top-20 in NCAA Division II in two statistical categories, tying for 12th in blocked shots (29) and 17th in blocks per game (1.93)
  • Rogers continues to lead the NSIC in free throw percentage in conference games, shooting 35-38 (92.1%) from the charity stripe
MSU MOORHEAD STORYLINES
  • MSU Moorhead enters Tuesday's match-up with a record of 7-6 (4-5 NSIC)

  • MSUM opened NSIC cross-division play with a weekend split at home, defeating Wayne State (73-63) before falling to Augustana (64-40)
  • MSU Moorhead is led by a trio of players who average double figures in scoring, Natalie Jens (15.8), Mariah McKeever (13.7), and Peyton Boom (13.5)
  • Boom leads the Dragons with 7.8 rebounds and 0.8 blocks per game this season, and leads the NSIC with 3.9 offensive rebounds per game in conference play
