Grebner Claims UMary Pentathlon Title

Bismarck, N.D. – A Northern State swimmer is the champion of the UMary Pentathlon for the second consecutive season as Lilly Grebner (2:51.65) earned a 7.90 second victory over UMary's Jordn Wolsky (2:59.55). Grebner was one of four Northern swimmers to place within the top-10 of the meet, joined by Haley Osborne (5th), Maddie Gonzales (6th), and Lauren Forsyth (10th).
 
HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Grebner swept all five of the day's events, winning the 50-yard butterfly (26.76), 50-yard backstroke (28.22), 50-yard breaststroke (31.45), 50-yard freestyle (24.66), and 100-yard IM (1:00.56)
  • Forsyth earned a third place finish in the 50-yard butterfly with a time of 27.34; other Wolves to finish within the top-10 included Osborne (28.46), Gonzales (28.49), and Georgy Turner (28.54) who finished eighth, ninth, and tenth respectively
  • Gonzales earned a fifth place finish in the 50-yard backstroke after hitting the wall in a time of 29.09 while Mia Fursedonne and Turner tied for sixth place in the event with a time of 29.38; two more Wolves rounded out the top-10 as Osborne (30.10) finished ninth and Hannah Kiernan (30.12) finished tenth
  • Mayson Sheldon earned a runner-up finish in the 50-yard breaststroke with a time of 32.08, and Delaney Ryken rounded out the top-5 with a time of 33.61; other top-10 finishers in the event included Forsyth (34.34) in seventh and Osborne (34.93) in ninth
  • Osborne was Northern's next best finisher in the 50-yard freestyle with a time of 25.96 that tied for sixth place; Ryken (26.20) and Gonzales (26.36) rounded out the top-10 with ninth and tenth place
  • Osborne earned a fifth place finish in the 100-yard IM after hitting the wall in a time of 1:04.86; Gonzales (1:05.11) and Kiernan (1:06.92) also earned top-10 places with seventh and tenth place respectively

UP NEXT
The Northern State swim team will have roughly a week and a half before the NSIC Championships that take place February 8-11. The 4-day event is set to be held at the Hulbert Aquatic Center in West Fargo, North Dakota.
