Fan Primer: Wolves Welcome Beavers and Golden Eagles for NSIC Opener

Aberdeen, S.D. – The (RV) Northern State University volleyball opens their home slate and NSIC schedule this weekend from Wachs Arena. The Wolves will face Bemidji State at 6 p.m. on Friday and Minnesota Crookston at 2 p.m. on Saturday. Full fan and game information can be found below.

Game Specific Promotions

  • Friday's contest is a WHITE OUT and Back to School Supply Drive
    • Fans can donate a school supply item (valued at $5 or more) and be admitted free to the contest - all donations will be given to area schools
  • Saturday's contest is HOMETOWN HEROES with all military and first responders receiving free admission with a valid ID

 

Online Ticketing

Wolves Club season tickets and general admission passes can be purchased online at nsuwolves.universitytickets.com or at the gate on game day. The fully automated system allows fans to select their seat for game day with tickets sent directly to your email or mobile device. Pricing for season and single game tickets is available at nsuwolves.com/tickets. Senior and youth tickets are only available for purchase at the gate on game days. All game day ticket sales will be available at the main entrance to Wachs Arena inside the Barnett Center for volleyball.

Current Northern State University students will receive one free ticket to all home sporting events throughout the 2022-23 academic. Information on how to claim student tickets will be distributed via email. 

 

Entrances to the Facility & Gate Opening Times

While the Barnett Center as numerous entrances to the facility, fans should enter through the main north doors on game day. The ticket gate, located in the Barnett Center lobby, will open one hour prior to first serve for all general admission and same day ticket sales. Individuals included in the Northern State passbook must sign in via the far right line at the main gate.  There is no re-entry into the facility.

 

Parking

Parking for all home Northern State volleyball contests is free for all fans in the Barnett Center main lot. Please note that the Barnett Center lot is used as a paid tailgating lot during all Northern State football home contests. On dates where football and volleyball coincide free and paid parking will be clearly marked for all fans. 

 

Concessions and Team Store

The Northern State concession stands are operated by Sodexo and offer a wide range of options for fans of all ages. Enjoy an ice-cold Coca-Cola product, bite into a soft pretzel with cheese, a world famous Wolf dog, or walking taco. Don’t forget to grab a freshly made popcorn or batch of Wisconsin cheese curds from one of the concession stands near you at all home Wolves athletic events. In addition, Sodexo supports local non-profits through a variety of opportunities. Contact NSU Dining Services at 605-626-2928 to learn more. 

The NSU Nike Team Store will be open in its main Barnett Center location on game day. The Barnett Center location opens one hour prior to first serve for all home contests. 

NORTHERN STATE STORYLINES

  • Northern enters their home opener with a 5-3 record on the year, receiving votes in the most recent AVCA Top-25 Poll
  • NSU is hitting .273 on the year, averaging 12.5 kills, 11.7 assists, 12.2 digs, 1.8 aces, and 2.3 blocks per set
  • Sally Gaul leads the Northern State offense with 91 kills this season, averaging 3.79 per set with a .259 attack percentage
  • Abby Brooks is hitting a team best .409 this season and leads the Wolves at the net with 27.0 blocks, averaging 1.13 per set
  • The NSU defensive effort is led by Madison Langlie with 98 total digs this season, averaging 4.08 per set
  • Langlie also leads the team with 12 aces on the year
  • Keri Walker paces the Wolves offense averaging 10.50 assists per set with 252 total in 2022

 

BEMIDJI STATE STORYLINES

  • Bemidji State opens NSIC play with a 1-7 record on the year
  • BSU is hitting .104 as a team, averaging 9.5 kills, 8.8 assists, 12.4 digs, 1.2 aces, and 1.0 blocks per set
  • Hallie Mertz leads the offense with 79 kills; an offense where no starter is hitting above .200
  • Hally Holker and Emily Wade split the setting duties, notching 117 and 118 assists respectively this season
  • Lauren Justesen leads the defense with 110 total digs, averaging 3.79 per set, while Rylie Bjerklie leads the net defense with 10.0 blocks
  • The Beavers are led by head coach Kevin Ulmer in his seventh season at the helm

 

LAST MATCH-UP

  • The Wolves tallied a 3-0 win over the Beavers in 2021
  • NSU recorded a match leading 38 kills, 39 digs, seven blocks, and five aces

MINNESOTA CROOKSTON STORYLINES

  • Bailey Schaefer and Audrey Cariveau lead the team with 66 and 64 kills respectively
  • Natalie Koke has dished out 201 assists on the year
  • Layne Whaley and Schaefer led the defensive effort, notching 101 and 93 digs respectively
  • The Golden Eagles are led by interim head coach Nick Meseck in his second season with the program
