Fan Primer: Wolves Soccer Host Beavers and Marauders

Aberdeen, S.D. â€“ For the second consecutive weekend the Northern State women’s soccer team will face off against a pair of top-5 opponents in the NSIC standings as they welcome Minot State and UMary to Aberdeen. The Wolves and Beavers will kick-off the weekend at 6 p.m. on Friday night, while the Wolves and Marauders will close out the weekend action with a 1 p.m. game on Sunday afternoon.

Online Ticketing

Wolves Club season tickets and general admission passes can be purchased online at nsuwolves.universitytickets.com or at the gate on game day. The fully automated system allows fans to select their seat for game day with tickets sent directly to your email or mobile device. Pricing for season and single game tickets is available at nsuwolves.com/tickets. Senior and youth tickets are only available for purchase at the gate on game days. All game day ticket sales will be available at the main entrance to the Athletic & Recreation Fields for soccer.

Current Northern State University students will receive one free ticket to all home sporting events throughout the 2022-23 academic. Information on how to claim student tickets will be distributed via email. 

 

Entrances to the Facility & Gate Opening Times

Fans should enter through the main gates of 14th Ave SW on game day. The ticket tent, located just inside the fence, will open one hour prior to kick-off for all general admission and same day ticket sales. Individuals included in the Northern State passbook must sign in with the ticket personnel.  There is no re-entry into the facility.

 

Parking

Parking for all home Northern State soccer contests is free for all fans. Fans are encouraged to park on the North end of the Barnett Center lot and walk to the main gate of the Athletics & Recreation Fields. Limited parking is available outside of the facility on 14th Ave SW. 

 

Concessions

The Northern State concession stands are operated by Sodexo and offer a wide range of options for fans of all ages. Enjoy an ice-cold Coca-Cola product, bite into a soft pretzel with cheese, a world famous Wolf dog, or walking taco. Don’t forget to grab a freshly made popcorn or batch of Wisconsin cheese curds from one of the concession stands near you at all home Wolves athletic events. NORTHERN STATE STORYLINES

  • Northern State enters the weekend with a record of 4-2-3 (2-1-3 NSIC), the Wolves are currently tied for seventh in the league standings
  • Last weekend Northern recorded a pair of ties on the road at Concordia-St. Paul (1-1) and No. 18 Minnesota State (0-0)
  • On Monday, Alexus Townsend was named the NSIC Goalkeeper of the Week for the second time this season with a weekend stat line of 15 saves for a 0.938 save percentage, one goal allowed (penalty kick goal), and one shutout
  • Townsend became the first NSIC goalkeeper to record a shutout against MSU this season, a team who entered the game averaging 4.8 goals per league match
  • Townsend ranks in the top-15 nationally in save percentage (0.933) and goals-against average (0.390), ranking seventh and 13th respectively
  • Northern State entered the United Soccer Coaches Central Region Top-10 for the first time this season on Tuesday, sitting at No. 10 in the poll
  • Megan Fastenau leads the team with seven points from three goals and an assist, while Hannah Smith is second with six points from three goals
  • Avery Blasdel has tallied a team leading two assists, both occurring in a win over Wayne State
  • Northern State ranks top-15 nationally in four categories, tying for second in save percentage (0.939), tying for fourth in goals against average (0.33), tying for 12th in shutout percentage (0.667), and tying for 13th in shutouts (6)
  • In NSIC contests only, NSU leads the conference in save percentage (0.943) and is tied for first in fewest goals allowed (2) and opponent scoring average (0.33)

 

MINOT STATE STORYLINES

  • Minot State enters the weekend with a record of 3-2-4 (3-1-2 NSIC), the Beavers are currently tied for fourth in the league standings
  • The Beavers went 1-0-1 on the road this past weekend, recording a tie at Winona State (1-1) before picking up a win at Upper Iowa (1-0)
  • Chloe Allan leads the team with four points from a team-high two goals, while Anabel Noches has tallied a team-high two assists
  • Allan’s two game-winning goals are tied for the most in conference play
  • Maddie Kindred leads NSIC goalkeepers in goals against average (0.333) and shutouts (4) in league matches
  • In league contests only, Minot State is tied with Northern State as the league leader in fewest goals allowed (2) and opponent scoring average (0.33)
  • T.J. Perez is in his first season with the Minot State soccer program and is in his first as the interim head coach for the Beavers, Perez holds a career coaching record of 3-2-4

UMARY STORYLINES
