Northern Makes Quick Work of No. 19 Patriots and Mountaineers

Aberdeen, S.D. – The (RV) Northern State University volleyball team capped off their opening weekend with sweeps over No. 19 UT Tyler and Western Colorado. The Wolves out-scored their opponents 153-107 in the victories.

HOW IT HAPPENED vs UT TYLER
  • The Wolves defeated the Patriots with set scores of 28-26, 25-21, and 25-21
  • Both teams recorded 42 kills in the match, however the Wolves proved their efficiency hitting .227
  • Northern added a match high nine blocks on defense, as well as 34 digs and three aces
  • NSU hit a match high .324 in the third and final set
  • Three starters notched six kills or more, while four recorded double figure blocks

  • The Wolves worked quickly in the night cap, downing the Mountaineers with set scores of 25-11, 25-18, and 25-10

  • They held Western to a .147 attack percentage with 27 kills
  • NSU added a match high 43 assists, 23 digs, eight blocks, and seven aces
  • Two Wolves tallied double figure kills, while all five hitters recorded an attack percentage over .300
  • Taylor Buckley, Abby Brooks, and Kennedy Gravelle did not suffering a hitting error in the win
  • Keri Walker paced the Wolves offense with 35 assists, averaging 11.67 per set, while adding three kills and four digs

UP NEXT
Northern returns to action next Friday and Saturday from the Sanford Pentagon. The Wolves will face off against MSU Moorhead and Truman State at 11:15 a.m. and 3:45 p.m. on Friday.
