Ten Fill Out Northern State Wrestling Roster for 2022-23

Aberdeen, S.D. – Northern State University head wrestling coach Rocky Burkett announced the addition of ten student-athletes to his 2022-23 roster. Carter Ban (Ramsey, Minn.), Ryan Hirschkorn (Harrisburg, S.D.), Cael Larson (Webster, S.D.), Trevor Reinke (Beatrice, Neb.), Spencer Roth (Graettinger, Iowa), Jack Schoenhard (Rapid City, S.D.), Keith Smith (Lincoln, Neb.), Cory St. Martin (Prior Lake, Minn.), Ayden Viox (Sioux Falls, S.D.), and Braydon Williams (Grand Forks, N.D.) will join the Wolves this fall.

Carter BanCarter Ban | Ramsey, Minn. | Anoka HS | 141
Carter Ban is a 5-foot-7, 141-pound wrestler out of Anoka High School. He was a 4-year starter and senior team captain for the Tornados under the direction of head coach Todd Springer. Ban tallied 129 career victories. He was a 3-time all-conference selection and 2-time state placer. In addition, Anoka took third (2021) and fourth (2022) at the Minnesota State Tournament in his tenure. Ban is also a member of the Pinnacle Wrestling School, placing at the Northern Plains Tournament and wrestling with the cadet and junior dual teams. He is a USA Wrestling State Champion in both freestyle and Greco-Roman in Minnesota. He is the son of Toby and Staci Ban.
 

Ryan HirschkornRyan Hirschkorn | Harrisburg, S.D. | Harrisburg HS | 184/197
Ryan Hirschkorn is a 6-foot-2, 184/197-pound wrestler out of Harrisburg High School. He was a 6-year starter and 3-year team captain for the Tigers under the direction of head coach Nate Rotert. Hirschkorn tallied 189 career victories, going 52-5 in 2022. As a senior, he scored 317.5 team points, breaking the Harrisburg school record. Hirschkorn is a 5-time state qualifier and 2-time state placer, winning the South Dakota State Championship at 182-pounds in 2022. He was a 2-time All-ESD and All-Metro Conference selection. He is the son of Todd and Lisa Hirschkorn.
 

Cael LarsonCael Larson | Webster, S.D. | Webster Area | 149
Cael Larson is a 5-foot-11, 149-pound wrestler out of Webster Area. He was a 5-year starter and 3-year team captain for the Bearcats under the direction of head coach Wade Rausch. Larson placed seventh (2019), second (2020), and third (2021) at the South Dakota State Tournament. In addition, he won the State Championship his senior season, leading the team in takedowns, escapes, nearfalls, pins, and wins. He is the son of Chelsea and Beau Larson.
 

Trevor ReinkeTrevor Reinke | Beatrice, Neb. | Beatrice HS | 141/149
Trevor Reinke is a 5-foot-7, 141/149-pound wrestler out of Beatrice High School. He was a 4-year starter and senior team captain for BHS under the direction of Jordan Johnson. Reinke posted a career record of 133-19. He was a 4-time state placer, winning the Nebraska State Championship as a sophomore and junior. In addition, Reinke was a Nebraska USA Wrestling State Greco Champion. He is the son of Phil Reinke and Barbara Woodard.
 

Spencer RothSpencer Roth | Graettinger, Iowa | Graettinger Terril | Cornell College | 165
Spencer Roth is a 5-foot-9, 165-pound wrestler out of Graettinger Terril and Cornell College. As a prep, Roth was a 4-year starter and senior team captain for the Titans under the direction of head coach Alex Helmich. He tallied 146 career wins, winning the section and district championship. In addition, Roth placed seventh as a senior at the Iowa State Tournament and was a 3-time all-academic selection. In two seasons at Cornell College, Roth tallied 26 career victories. He is the son of Tim and Michelle Roth and brother of Wolves wrestling student-athlete Kolton Roth.
 

Jack SchoenhardJack Schoenhard | Rapid City, S.D. | Stevens HS | 125
Jack Schoenhard is a 5-foot-7, 125-pound wrestler out of Stevens High School. He was a 4-year starter and senior team captain for the Raiders under the direction of head coach Travis King. Schoenhard tallied 205 prep victories, including 101 victories by fall. He was a 4-time state placer taking fourth (2019), third (2020), and second (2021 and 2022). Stevens won the South Dakota State Dual and Individual Team Championships in 2019 and 2020. He is the son of Tom and Stephanie Schoenhard and brother of NSU soccer alumna Mallory Schoenhard.
 

Keith SmithKeith Smith | Lincoln, Neb. | Lincoln East HS | 141
Keith Smith is a 5-foot-7, 141-pound wrestler out of Lincoln East High School. He was a 4-year starter and senior team captain for the Spartans under the direction of head coach Jeff Rutledge. Smith posted a career recorded of 119-16. He was a 3-time Nebraska state placer, winning the State Championship as a sophomore and a senior. Smith is a 2-time Preseason Nationals High School All-American, a Cadet Greco Fargo All-American, a UWW Cadet Greco All-American, a Preseason Nationals High School National Champion, and a place winner at the Western Regional and Northern Plains tournaments. He is the son of Keith and Danielle Smith.
 

Wolf HeadCory St. Martin | Prior Lake, Minn. | Prior Lake HS | 141
Cory St. Martin is a 5-foot-6, 141-pound wrestler out of Prior Lake High School. He was a 4-year letter winner for the Lakers under the direction of head coach Joe Block. St. Martin tallied 90 prep victories in his career. He was a 3-time South Suburban Conference selection and 4-time all-academic recipient. He is the son of Jason and Heidi St. Martin.
 

Ayden VioxAyden Viox | Sioux Falls, S.D. | Harrisburg HS | 285
Ayden Viox is a 6-foot, 285-pound wrestler out of Harrisburg High School. He was a 4-year starter and senior team captain for the Tigers under the direction of head coach Nate Rotert. Viox recorded 141 career wins, going 51-5 in his senior campaign. In 2022, he was the South Dakota State runner-up for HHS. Viox is an All-Metro and All-ESD selection, and a 2-time state placer. He is the son of Aaron and Teresa Viox.
 

Braydon WilliamsBraydon Williams | Grand Forks, N.D. | Grand Forks Central | 165
Braydon Williams is a 5-foot-10, 165-pound wrestler out of Grand Forks Central. He was a 4-year starter and 2-year team captain for the Knights under the direction of head coach Garrett Litzinger. Williams tallied 97 career victories in his prep career. He was an academic all-state honoree and 2-time state placer, taking fifth each season. He is the son of Steve and Jessica Williams.
