Northern State Volleyball Adds Four for 2022

Aberdeen, S.D. – Northern State University head volleyball coach Brent Aldridge announced today the additions of Mia Hinsz (Bismarck, N.D.), Victoria Persha (Surprise, Ariz.), Jagoda Szybinska (Poznan, Poland), and Jackie Yang (St. Paul, Minn.) for the 2022-23 academic year.
 
"This group of young women along with Cara Cyr and Reese Johnson make up a class that will continue 'the relentless pursuit of excellence' here at Northern State volleyball," noted Aldridge. "There are athletes in this class that will push for playing time from the first day that they step on campus at Northern State. The expectations are that they all come in and contribute to our gym on a daily basis in practice, as we compete in the always-challenging NSIC. They are all very good students in the classroom and even better people. Come get your first look at Wolves volleyball on Friday, September 9th, as we take on Bemidji State in our NSIC opener from the Barnett Center. Go Wolves!!!"

Mia HinszMia Hinsz | Bismarck, N.D. | Bismarck HS | Libero
Mia Hinsz is a 5-foot-5, libero out of Bismarck High School. She was a 3-year starter for the Demons under the direction of head coach Brianna Kline. Hinsz tallied 1,093 digs, 1,011 assists, and 120 aces in her prep career. In 2021 she earned all-state and all-region honors, and was named the West Region Senior Athlete of the Year and to the ND State All-Tournament team. She is the daughter of Bryan and Julie Hinsz.
 

Victoria PershaVictoria Persha | Surprise, Arizona | Paradise Honors HS | Right Side
Victoria Persha is a 5-foot-11, right side hitter out of Paradise Honors High School. She was a 4-year starter and 2-year team captain for the Panthers under the direction of head coach William Clawson. Persha was a 3-time all-conference selection, 2-time all-region pick, and the 4A Southwest Region Offensive Player of the Year. In addition, she is a member of the Spiral Volleyball program, coaches by Tracy Irving. She is the daughter of Drew and Lea Persha.
 

Jagoda SzybinskaJagoda Szybinska | Poznan, Poland | Szamotuly | Vincennes University | Outside Hitter
Jagoda Szybinska is a 6-foot, outside hitter out of Poznan, Poland. She was a 3-year starter at Szamotuly, winning three region championships in 2019, 2020, and 2021. Szybinska opened her collegiate career at Vincennes University. With the Trailblazers, Szybinska tallied 275 kills, 35 blocks, and 20 service aces. VU won the NJCAA Region 24 Championship in the fall of 2021. She is the daughter of Karol and Beata Szybinska and the sister of current Wolves volleyball student-athlete Natalia Szybinska.
 

Jackie YangJackie Yang | St. Paul, Minn. | Johnson HS | Defensive Specialist/Libero
Jackie Yang is a 5-foot-4, defensive specialist/libero out of Johnson High School. She was a 4-year starter and 3-year team captain for the Governors under the direction of head coach Hannah Besmer. Yang tallied four all-conference honors in her prep career and was the team MVP each season. In addition, Yang is a member of the Minnesota Juniors program. She landed on the Sports Performance Volleyball All-PDC team and has won three tournaments in 2022. She is the daughter of May Vang and Tou Yang.
