Mankato, Minn. – Northern State totaled three homeruns on the day, including the go ahead grand slam by
Isaiah Chevalier in the seventh inning to secure the 11-7 upset of NSIC leading Minnesota State on Sunday afternoon. Northern's victory snapped a nine game winning streak for the Mavericks on the season and was NSU's first win against MSU since 2018.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Northern State grabbed an early 2-0 lead in the bottom of the first inning as Jack Paulson hit a solo homerun to right field and Ramon Vega Jr. hit a single down the right field line to score Spencer Sarringar
- Minnesota State responded quickly the next few innings, scoring one run in the second, two in the third, and three in the fourth innings
- Trailing by four runs in the fourth inning, Vega Jr. scored an unearned run on a wild pitch, and he later hit another RBI single in the fifth inning to score Sarringar once again
- The Mavericks added one last run in the seventh to grab a 7-4 lead, but Northern scored a total of six runs in the bottom half of the inning to grab the lead for good
- Karson Hesser hit a solo homerun to right field to get the inning started, and a bases loaded walk of Niko Pezonella ensued later in the inning to score Sarringar and bring the deficit to one run
- The play of the game came when Isaiah Chevalier knocked a grand slam down the right field line to give NSU the 10-7 lead
- The Wolves added one last insurance run in the bottom of the eighth when Vega Jr. hit his third RBI single of the day, this time scoring Hesser to make the score 11-7
- Northern State scored their 11 runs on 13 hits and did not commit an error defensively
- Seth Brewer recorded his fifth start of the season on the mound, pitching 5.0 innings and throwing four strikeouts; Mitchell Tolk entered in relief to pick up his first win of the season, allowing only two hits and one earned run while striking out four batters
