Aberdeen, S.D. – Northern State's
Josh Martin (men's track & field) and
Renea Taylor (women's track & field) have been named as the South Dakota Army National Guard Athletes of the Week for their athletic efforts last week.
Martin broke the Northern State school record in the mile at the SDSU Holiday Open, finishing second in the event with a national qualifying time of 4:10.18. His time ranks second in the nation in the event and is under two seconds off the leader. Martin bested the previous school record of 4:15.43 by over five seconds.
Taylor won three events at the NSU Open to kick-off the 2022-23 season. She took the 55m dash with a time of 7.06, the 200m dash with a time of 25.29, and the 55m hurdles with a time of 8.30. She broke the Northern State indoor school record with her provisional time of 7.61 in the 60m. Taylor ranks tenth in the nation in the 60m and third in the nation in the 200m.
