Burnsville, Minn. – Following a successful 9-5-5 (7-3-5 NSIC) 2022 campaign and fresh off their second consecutive NSIC Tournament appearance, the Northern State women's soccer team was rewarded with their most all-conference performers in program history. Northern had a total of five players make the first and second teams with Hannah Smith and Lilja Davidsdottir earning All-NSIC First Team and Megan Fastenau, Alexus Townsend, and Mia Zagorski earning All-NSIC Second Team. The postseason soccer teams were highlighted with Smith earning NSIC Freshman of the Year honors.

After having her first two seasons at Northern State cut short due to her 2020 season being canceled and receiving a medical redshirt in 2021, Smith made the most of her redshirt-freshman season and was rewarded with NSIC Freshman of the Year and All-NSIC First Team honors. She tallied eight goals and an assist for a total of 17 points, leading the team in both goals and points. With all 17 points occurring in conference play, Smith tied for second in the league in goals, tied for third in game-winning goals, and was tied for fourth in points. Her lone penalty kick attempt of the season resulted in the game-winning goal against MSU Moorhead in the regular season finale, clinching the Wolves second consecutive NSIC Tournament bid. Smith recorded one multi-goal game this season with a two goal performance in a 4-0 win over Minnesota Crookston.

Davidsdottir spearheaded the Northern State defense and was named an All-NSIC First Team defender for the second time in her career (2021 All-NSIC First Team). The NSU defense allowed two or more goals only three times all season and their goals-against average of 0.632 ranked 34th nationally. Davidsdottir earned NSIC Defensive Player of the Week on October 31 following a 3-0 win over MSU Moorhead.

Fastenau was named to the All-NSIC Second Team for the second time in her career (2021 All-NSIC Second Team). She tallied four goals and a team-high four assists for a total of 12 points this season. In conference play she tied for sixth in the league with four assists and was tied for 18th with ten points. Townsend earned all-conference honors for the first time in her career as she was named All-NSIC Second Team. Zagorski's breakout junior season ended with her being named All-NSIC Second Team for the first time in her career. She tallied four goals and three assists for a total of 11 points this season.
