Wolves Softball Falls to USF in NSIC Tournament Match-up

Rochester, Minn. – The Northern State University softball team's season ended on Friday morning at the NSIC Tournament with a 3-2 loss versus Sioux Falls.
 
The Wolves seniors, Elyse Cuttic, Kennady Thompson, Emily Charchuk, Makenzie Merritt, Natalie Gabbert, Emma Terveer, Rachel Reinke, and Chanel Siebenthal played the final games of their careers. Northern tallied their second 20-win season under the direction of head coach Jenny Fuller.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Sioux Falls scored early, taking a 2-run lead in the bottom of the first
  • Northern chipped away on an RBI ground ball by Elyse Cuttic in the fourth, scoring Ashley Fauske
  • The Wolves tied the game in the sixth, as Shelby Novotny singled in Karley King
  • The Cougars however quickly answered back, grabbing the 3-2 lead in the bottom of the sixth
  • USF held NSU scoreless in the seventh and sealed the advancing victory
  • Northern tallied two runs on six hits in the game, without giving up an error on defense
  • Meghan Anderson started for the Wolves, throwing a no-decision in 3.1 innings of work with three strikeouts
  • Elyse Cuttic suffered the loss, finishing her season with a 12-8 record overall
