Marshall, Minn. – After going down 9-0 to start the dual, the Northern State University wrestling team battled back for the fourth victory of the season. The Wolves tallied five match victories, including one bonus point win in the dual. In addition, Northern won four of the seven extra matches.

HOW IT HAPPENED

• Ali'i Loyola tallied the Wolves first victory of the evening, defeating Jacob Dykes in a 3-2 decision; the two were scoreless through the first period, while Loyola scored all his points in the third
• Michael Bigler followed grabbing his first win of the season, recording a 7-2 decision victory over Ben Emrich
• The Wolves were within three, however a major decision loss at 133-pounds extended the Mustang lead
• Kolton Roth made quick work of the spread, defeating Justin Sampson by fall at 3:55 in the match
• Prior to the pin, Roth led the match by a score of 9-2
• Southwest kept the Wolves at bay, taking the 149-pound bout and leaving the team scoreboard reading 16-12
• Caden Moore brought Northern within one, defeating Nathan Moore in a 4-2 decision
• The dual came down to senior Billy Holtan and the 165-pound bout versus Carter Marx
• The match was scoreless through the first two periods, however Holtan kicked off the scoring with an escape to open the third
• He added two takedowns as well, closing out the 5-1 decision win
• Northern is now 10-16-1 all-time versus Southwest Minnesota State
