Aberdeen, S.D. – The American Football Coaches' Association (AFCA) released the 2021 AFCA Division II Coaches' All-America Team on Wednesday morning.
Chance Olson became the first Northern State football player since 2018 to be named an All-American, when he was named to the Second Team defense today. It marks the 46
th All-American honor received by a Northern football athlete, and he becomes the 40
th different athlete to receive All-American status in the Wolves football program. Olson is one of seven NSIC players represented on the AFCA's All-America teams.
Olson continues to add to his postseason awards, having already been named Second Team All-NSIC North Division, CoSIDA Academic All-District, and was named First Team All-Super Region 4 last week. He led the NSIC and was second in all of NCAA Division II with seven interceptions on the season, returning them for a total of 181 yards and a touchdown. His top play of the season came when he stopped a Bemidji State red zone drive by picking off the pass at the goal line and proceeded to return it 100 yards for a pick six. He ranks second on the team with 80.0 total tackles and adds 3.5 tackles for loss, six pass break-ups, and two fumble recoveries.
