Northern State Swimming Travels to Sioux Falls

Aberdeen, S.D. – The Northern State swim team will travel to face the University of Sioux Falls on Saturday afternoon at the Midco Aquatic Center in Sioux Falls. This road dual will be the last in a stretch of three consecutive duals away from Aberdeen.

NORTHERN STATE STORYLINES
  • Northern State enters the meet with a dual record of 2-2 on the season
  • The Wolves defeated Jamestown 112-102 in their last meet on October 15
  • In Northern's dual victory over Jamestown, the team posted four individual victories and a relay win, to go along with 17 top three individual placings
  • The Wolves recorded a season best time in the 200 yard medley relay with the team of Maddie Gonzales, Mayson Sheldon, Marialuisa Avila, and Mia Fursedonne taking first place in a time of 1:53.68
  • Haley Osborne has won the 100 yard freestyle in back-to-back meets, posting times of 55.35 at MSU Moorhead and 55.50 at Jamestown
  • NSU swept the top three places in two events at Jamestown, the 500 yard freestyle (Delaney Ryken, Fanny Legros, and Kenzi Matson) and the 1000 yard freestyle (Legros, Ryken, and Matson)
  • The fourth and final NSU swimmer to earn an event win against Jamestown was Mayson Sheldon in the 200 yard breaststroke, hitting the wall in a time of 2:39.09
SIOUX FALLS STORYLINES
  • Sioux Falls enters the meet with a dual record of 1-5 on the season
  • The Cougars went 1-1 in a tri-meet on October 23, defeating Jamestown 186-89 and falling to Minnesota State 152-141
  • On Tuesday, Inte Pas was named the NSIC Swimmer of the Week coming off a weekend with three individual event wins in the 100 yard breaststroke (1:04.50), 200 yard breaststroke (2:23.63), and the 200 yard IM (2:14.05)
  • Pas holds the top time in the conference in the 50 yard breaststroke (30.38), 100 yard breaststroke (1:04.50), and the 200 yard breaststroke (2:21.65), her time in the 100 yard breaststroke is also the fourth fastest in NCAA Division II so far this season
  • Ilinde du Plessis was the only other Sioux Falls swimmer to record multiple event wins in the meet with Minnesota State and Jamestown, winning the 100 yard backstroke (58.74) and the 200 yard backstroke (2:06.30)
  • USF holds the top time in the NSIC in the 200 yard medley relay (1:48.70) and 400 yard medley relay (3:56.35), both coming in a double dual against Augustana and St. Cloud State
LOOKING BACK TO JANUARY
  • The last time Northern State and Sioux Falls competed against each other was January 16, when USF earned 112-33 and 128-39 victories in a pair of triple-duals in Sioux Falls
  • The Cougars hold the advantage in the all-time dual meet series 7-0
