Wolves Top Jimmies for Second Dual Victory

Jamestown, N.D. – The Northern State swim team defeated the University of Jamestown 112-102 for their second dual win of the season. The meet was highlighted by a relay win, four individual victories, and 17 top three individual placings for the Wolves.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Northern State opened the dual with a victory in the 200 yard medley relay as Maddie Gonzales, Mayson Sheldon, Marialuisa Avila, and Mia Fursedonne finished with a time of 1:53.68
  • The Wolves swept the top three spots in the 1000 yard freestyle with Fanny Legros placing first with a time of 11:27.98, followed by Delaney Ryken (11:35.86), and Kenzi Matson (12:10.68)
  • Haley Osborne earned a second place finish in the 200 yard freestyle with a time of 2:01.93
  • Connor Doran would earn a runner-up finish in the 50 yard freestyle, hitting the wall in a time of 26.29
  • Maddie Gonzales led the way for the Wolves in the 200 yard IM, taking second with a time of 2:22.74
  • Hannah Kiernan and Marialuisa Avila placed second and third respectively in the 200 yard butterfly, finishing in 2:31.85 and 2:36.17
  • Osborne and Doran took first and second place for NSU in the 100 yard freestyle, hitting the wall in times of 55.50 and 56.58
  • Gonzales and Mia Fursedonne were the top Northern swimmers in the 200 yard backstroke, placing second and third with times of 2:15.39 and 2:17.38
  • For the second time in the dual Northern State swept the top three places, this time in the 500 yard freestyle with Ryken (5:36.99), Legros (5:43.56), and Matson (6:02.05)
  • In the final individual event of the dual, Sheldon and Legros placed first and second in the 200 yard breaststroke with times of 2:39.09 and 2:42.35
  • The Northern State relay team of Fursedonne, Osborne, Doran, and Avila closed the meet with a second place finish in the 200 yard freestyle relay with a time of 1:42.19
UP NEXT
Northern State will have two weeks to prepare for their next dual meet, as they will travel to face the University of Sioux Falls on Saturday, October 30, in Sioux Falls. This meet will end a stretch of three consecutive road duals before they welcome Augustana to Aberdeen for a dual meet on Friday, November 5.
